Instructions

How to Make Easy Homemade Apple Fritters

  • Prepare Apples: Start by dicing your Fuji apples into small pieces, then toss them with fresh lemon juice to prevent browning. Set them aside.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg.
  • Combine Wet Ingredients: Create a well in the center of the dry mix. Pour in the whole milk, crack in the egg, add the melted butter, and drizzle in the pure vanilla extract. Stir until just combined.
  • Fold Apples: Gently fold in the diced apples from earlier, ensuring each chunk is well-coated in the batter.
  • Heat Oil: In a deep pot, pour canola oil and heat it to 375°F (190°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
  • Fry Fritters: Using a greased measuring cup, carefully drop ¼ cup of batter into the hot oil. Fry 3-4 fritters at a time, cooking for about 2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Drain: Transfer your fritters to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • Make Glaze: In another bowl, whisk together the confectioners’ sugar, milk (or water), pure vanilla extract, and optional ground cinnamon until smooth.
  • Glaze Fritters: Dip each fritter into the glaze, allowing the excess to drip off. Set them on a wire rack for the glaze to set before serving.
