Ingredients

For the Dumplings

  • 4 pieces Granny Smith Apples Tart apples for flavor
  • 1 package Puff Pastry Sheets Frozen, thawed
  • ½ cup Heavy Cream Can substitute with milk
  • 1 large Egg (beaten) For egg wash
  • ½ cup Sugar Brown sugar optionally
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon Spice for filling
  • 1 tablespoon Flour For dusting

For Serving

  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar For dusting
  • 1 cup Whipped Cream Optional topping
  • 1 cup Vanilla Ice Cream Great with dumplings

Instructions

Preparing the Dumplings

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Beat the egg yolk in another bowl to create your egg wash.
  • Peel and core the Granny Smith apples gently, leaving them whole.
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface until it’s a square, about ⅛ inch thick.
  • Cut the pastry into four equal squares and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Position one apple in the center of each square and pour 1 tablespoon of heavy cream into the core of each.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture generously over the apples.
  • Fold the corners of the pastry over the apples and pinch to seal securely.
  • Brush the outer pastry with the egg wash you prepared earlier.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  • Serve warm with a dusting of powdered sugar, a dollop of whipped cream, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Optional: Drizzle with caramel sauce for an extra touch of indulgence. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze before baking for up to 2 months.
