How to Make Sour Cream Banana Bars

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of the bars.
  • Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  • Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar in a separate bowl until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add the sour cream and vanilla extract.
  • Combine the dry ingredients gradually into the wet mixture. Mix until just incorporated, then fold in the mashed bananas gently.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool the bars completely in the pan on a wire rack before frosting.
  • Frost the cooled bars by beating cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until creamy.
