For the Brown Sugar Frosting

Instructions

Blondies Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a half-sheet pan (13×18 inches).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup of room temperature unsalted butter and 3 cups of brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Gradually incorporate into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Gently fold in 1 ½ cups of chopped toasted pecans.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean and edges are lightly golden.

Frosting Preparation

  • For the frosting, beat together 2 sticks of softened unsalted butter and 2 cups of brown sugar until smooth.
  • Gradually add in 4 cups of powdered sugar and ⅓ cup of half-and-half, mixing until creamy.
  • Stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
  • Allow blondies to cool completely before spreading the brown sugar frosting over the top.

Notes

For added crunch, top with extra toasted pecans if desired.
